The Security Service of Ukraine reported suspicion to five Russian paratroopers who shot a car with a Kyivian resident during the occupation of Bucha in the Kyiv region. All of them are servicemen of the 98th Airborne Division of the RF Armed Forces.
It was established that at the beginning of March 2022, Senior Lieutenant Nikolai Simov ordered his subordinates to shoot a car with a civilian from Kyiv, who was moving along the highway near the village of Zdvizhovka, Buchansky district.
As a result of the shelling, a 33-year-old resident of Kiev died on the spot.
The man was on his way to hand over essential items to his acquaintances, who had been under occupation for several days. But the man never reached the captured village: the Russians shot his car with crossfire from automatic weapons from their positions on the side of the road.
To cover up the crime, the Russian military buried the body in a nearby forest area.
Based on the results of investigative actions, law enforcement officers established his whereabouts, conducted a forensic medical examination and identified the identity of the deceased.
The investigation established that at the time of the crime, Simov was the deputy commander of the 7th company of the 3rd battalion of the 331st parachute regiment of the 98th airborne division of the RF Armed Forces.
And his subordinates from the 2nd platoon, who directly shot a civilian car, are:
- sergeant Ilya Astakhov – deputy platoon commander;
- Sergeant Andrey Dvoretsky – squad leader;
- corporal Ruslan Kharitonov – gunner-operator;
- Private Oleg Bakhmisov – shooter.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service informed all five of them about suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violations of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder).
Comprehensive measures are currently ongoing to locate exposed war criminals and bring them to justice.
Information about the possible death of Simov in the war in Ukraine is also being checked. His death is not grounds for suspending the investigation of criminal proceedings involving other participants.
Recall that earlier the General of the Russian Guard, who commands the suppression of the partisan movement in the Crimea, was informed of suspicion .
