In Ukraine, suspicions were announced in absentia against the 14th Russian military, who dispersed peaceful protests against the occupation of Kherson. Among them are commanders of senior officers.
“Under the procedural leadership of the Kherson regional and Kherson district prosecutor’s offices, 14 servicemen of the Russian Federation were notified in absentia of suspicion of violating the laws and customs of war (part 2 of article 28, part 1 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),” the message says.
According to the investigation, in the spring of 2022, during the temporary occupation in the regional center on Svoboda Square, the local population gathered for peaceful actions in support of Ukraine. Such demonstrations were constantly suppressed by the occupiers.
Among the suspects are five representatives of the highest and senior officers of the Russian army. These are major generals, colonels and lieutenant colonels. As well as nine of their subordinate servicemen of the Federal Service of the Russian Guard.
The commander of the 50th separate operational brigade supervised the forceful dispersal of the protesters. On his instructions, combat orders were carried out to suppress the resistance of the Kherson residents, the use of violence and weapons against them.
It was noted that at least 11 civilians were illegally detained and imprisoned. In places of captivity, they were tortured, knocking out information about the resistance movement, the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they were inclined to cooperate.
The issue of putting the suspects on the wanted list is being resolved, and the identification of other involved persons continues.
