If you read the news from various sources, you eventually come to the conclusion that about 37 percent of Americans still support Trump. This is his base, to whom he directs his endless promises of a wall along the southern U.S. border. It’s startling that Trump supporters are blindly loyal to him, no matter what he does.
I read the reports about possible Democratic presidential candidates, including Elizabeth Warren, Beto O’Rourke, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and others. Harris looks promising, but it’s too early to tell.
Despite mounting evidence that Trump is not fit for the job of president, the leader of the free world, and the leader of the American people, his base will vote for him. This means that Democratic and Independent candidates are likely to divide up and erode any opposition to him again. The only way to win the Electoral College is by winning the greater number of votes from key states.
Trump may be indicted; he may be censured; he may be charged with crimes and misdemeanors, but he will likely just keep on doing his reality-TV-schtick and run for re-election.
I truly hate what our nation has become: a nation divided, a nation of haters and a nation led by an inept, immoral and incredibly boorish man who never should have reached such a pinnacle of power. I dread reading the news. Some days, I just tune it out and I’ll be doing more of that in the months ahead. Canada looks good to me.
